Warcraft II allows you to play as either humans or orcs, and race each given their own set of special abilities and talents. A goal is basic: you build a base for farmers, collect gold and timber and keep the enemy at bay. Gameplay is very simple and the graphics this game, while not state-of-the-art (this version was released in 1996, after all) is not so fundamental to reduce the game itself. Lack of advanced features (which emerged as a serious improvement in Age of Empires and Warcraft III) did not make a Warcraft II less attractive. You can not build a command queue, or specify the number of units selected for the group, as a few examples. During testing, we found that the demo works fine on Windows XP, and the Windows version. If you consider yourself a Warcraft II nostalgia junkies looking for a challenge and simple, the demo is worth a download.
